DANISH OPEN RELAY KETTLEBELL BIATHLON

dsc_01301 A friendly challenge to all kettlebell lifters!

This is a virtual team event to be held on the first week of March 2009. You decide the date that suits your team best, and send the results by the 8th of March.

There will be a prize for the winner team in Men, Women and Mixed divisions.

Given this is a free virtual event, don’t expect too much…

We ask for a video for judging the winners, full body only.

You can post it on youtube or facebook, under the Danish kettlebell training group.

Men’s biathlon- Bell weight 24 or 32kg. 3 persons per team

10 minutes of push from the breast with 2 shells, aka the double jerk.

Rest ½ hour

10 minutes of rise of one projectile in one clean movement, aka the one arm snatch.

Women’s biathlon- Bell weight 12 or 16kg. 3 persons per team

10 minutes of push from the breast with 1 shell, aka the one arm jerk.

Rest ½ hour

10 minutes of rise of one projectile in one clean movement, aka the  one arm snatch.

Mixed team members use bell weight and disciplines corresponding to their gender. 3 persons per team

General rules for the event

All 3 team members use the same bell(s) on one platform/ mat for both disciplines.

(Except mixed teams.Team members in mixed divisions can use different weight for men a women, but you have to lift on the same platform/ mat , and the clock does not stop. Have them near by)

Every team member can only participate once in each discipline.

Participants decide for themselves how long they lift in the 10 minute interval. After the clock starts, it only stops once, when the 10 minutes are up.

Dress code: shorts and t-shirt,( for lock out referee) weightlifting belt ( NOT powerlifting belt) allowed, wristbands OK.

People who can’t physically be with their team members due to remote location:
You can submit 3 videos.
The first 2 persons do 3’15”, the last one one does 3’20”; making a total team set of 9’50”, allowing for change over.

Rules for Jerk

A push press is not a jerk. Full lock out in the knees and elbows, overhead stabilization required( 1second). Rest position in the rack (NOT on SHOULDERS!) or overhead only.

If a team member puts his bell(s) on the floor or can no longer hold the proper rack position, he’s finished and the next team member must come on.

If a team member drops the bell(s) on the floor his numbers are not counted, and he’s out.

Women are allowed a single hand switch.

Rules for Snatch

Full lockout in knees and elbow, Overhead stabilization required( 1second). No Heil Hitler snatches thanks

Dipping under the weight is allowed, lowering to the chest is not.

Rest position overhead only, no swinging between snatches.

If a team member rest in the hang position or puts the bell on the floor, he’s finished and the next team member must come on.

If a team member drops the bell on the floor his numbers are not counted, and he’s out.

Only a single hand switch allowed.

And the winner is…

Very good idea with the competition! Might be a little difficult to gather a Swedish team but we will see.
Did you go to Latvia in December?

    Have a Happy New Year!

Ps! If I ever would like to insult a kettlebell lifter I know what to say now – “Heil Hitler snatches…” – hillarious expression :-) .

  2. I hope we can get some people motivated!
Latvia was a blast, I ‘m looking forward to August already!
    Happy New Year
